Keith Bruening

Hi. I am Keith and I am the Secretary / Treasurer at BRP. I have worked for BRP for the past 31 years. I am a Decorah High School graduate, and attended Luther College in Decorah from 1976-1978 where I was a letterman in football and baseball. I went on to graduate from Iowa State University in 1980 with a B.S. degree in Industrial Management and a minor in Accounting and Religion. I am married to Amy Carlson and we have three children: Michael (10 years old), Katherine (9 years old), and Rebecca (6 years old). Here are some other accomplishments:

Duane Bruening

Hello, I am Duane. When I was a very small boy, I wanted to be many things from a cowboy to a race car driver, but my first clear memory was to be an engineer as I enjoyed building things. When I entered college, I declared my major as an electrical engineer, but transferred from Iowa State to Loras College and became a double major in Economics and Accounting.

I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps while I was in college at Loras. I was called to active duty a few days after I graduated in 1952. I was commissioned to a 2nd lieutenant that August. I was released in August of 1954 as a captain. I came back to Iowa and began my new career in the family business. The next 50 years I was an excavating contractor with BRP. When I moved back to Decorah, I bought half of the business with my father. At that time, we had just seven employees. All these years later, two of my sons, Greg and Keith, and two of my grandsons, Tyler and Jacob, are following in their father's and grandfather's footsteps.

I am now retired and was previously the President of BRP, Inc. I still have an office and love being able to go there and spend time with the employees. It is so great to be able to see the company grow and do so well. I recently celebrated my 80th birthday and my family hosted a party for me at the office. I couldn't help but reflect on all the wonderful memories I have from my life with the company.

My wife, Eileen and I were married back in our days in Dubuque. We have eight children, five boys and three girls. We have had many years enjoying our children grow into adulthood. Sadly, God has taken our two youngest sons to be with him in heaven. We have been blessed with seventeen grandchildren. Our granddaughter, Natalie, was called into the loving arms of Christ. I enjoy our grandchildren very much! My wife and I are relishing in our golden years! We are both in fairly good health and have a vacation home in Arizona, which helps us escape Iowa's winters.

• I am a member of the St. Benedict Catholic Church.

• I served as a Luther College Board of Regents for terms 1995-2001, 2001-2003, and 2003-200 and am a Regent Emeriti.

• I am also serving on the Northeast Iowa Community College Foundation Board.

• And finally, I am a Associate General Contractor Hall of Fame  member.

Tyler Bruening

Hi. I am Tyler and growing up as a kid, I always wanted to be involved with the family business. I spent many summers working on the crews helping out however I could. After I graduated from Loras College in Dubuque, IA with a BA in Sports Management, it was only natural to move back home and start working full time. I am currently going into my third year as the Safety Director for Bruening Rock Products and Skyline Construction and I love working in the business. Being the Safety Director means a lot of things, but I am able to get outside and work with the guys and teach safety on the job sites, while also getting to work with the Insurance side of Construction, like injuries and work comp, which has its challenges, but I am learning every day.

Jacob Bruening

Hi. I am Jacob and I am the youngest of Greg's children. I have worked on and off for the company over the last 5 years. I started with Izzy in the shop and this past year I spent in our mine in knoxville, IA. While in the mine, I work on the powder crew loading explosives. Now, I can say I am glad to be back on the surface again. In the last month, I have begun work in our central lab working with Mac.

Steve Courtney

Hi. I am Steve and I started working for Bruening Rock Products in the summer of 1986. At that time there were probably 60-70 employees. We have grown over the years to over 300 employees in 3 different states and several different companies. My duties have included Payroll, Accounts Payable, Property Management, dealing with Iowa Departments of Transportation, Agriculture, Natural Resources, etc. I am preparing to now to relocate to help manage our expansion in the Southern part of North America or the Carribean.

Mike Root

Hi, I am Mike and I have been with BRP for almost 19 years.  I have a working knowledge of  the technical specs for construction. I work with safety & MSHA, bid letting and quotes. I live in Decorah with my wife Linda.

Greg Ames

Hi. I am Greg and I started with BRP in September of 2006. I currently take care of Accounts Receivables for Skyline Ready Mix, Accounts Payable for Skyline Ready Mix and Skyline Construction, and Accounts Receivable and Payable for Skyline Materials.

Gerry McCullen

Hi. I am Gerry and I started working for BRP in July of 2009. I am the Chief Financial Officer. I have over 30 years experience in all financial areas. I have held various financial positions in Manufacturing Companies in diverse Industries. I am responsible for the accounting, Financial, and Computers Systems at BRP.

Danny Sanden

Hi- I am Danny and I have been employed as Controller at Bruening Rock Products, Inc. since 1997. I deal with almost all aspects of the Company business in some way or another, including contract management, financials, audits, insurance, taxes and the like.

Being from Minnesota, I always like to fish, hunt, and ride motorcycle.

Ron Fadness

Hi. I am Ron. I serve as the General Counsel for the Bruening Companies. I am a native of Decorah, graduated from Decorah High School in 1983 and Central College in 1987. I also completed a Master of Arts in Education at the University of Iowa in 1991, and was a high school and community college teacher before entering law school.

I graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law with a High Distinction in 1999, having served on the editorial board of the Journal of Corporation Law, the Moot Court Board, and as a research assistant to Professor Arthur Bonfield.

I am the Vice President of the Decorah Community School District Board of Education, a trustee of Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum, and am actively involved with the Real Estate Section of the Iowa State Bar Association.

I am married and have two children.

John Courtney

Chase Riehle

Hi. My name is Chase and I started with BRP in September of 2007. Soon after, operations were expanded into Missouri and Minnesota, making it an eye-opening experience for me to see how fast the company had grown and continues to grow! My responsibilities include Payroll, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable for Jennerjohn & Holthaus, Inc. and Skyline Trucking, Inc., as well as Accounts Receivable for S & S Quarries and G-71 Sand Pit, and processing incoming payments for all companies.

Jesse Delaney

Hi. I am Jesse and I am a Project Engineer. I grew up in Lansing, Iowa from a family of 9 kids.  I Graduated from Iowa State University and married Heather Grady in 2002.  We have three children, Logan, Mari and Beckham.

Brian Svestka

Hi. I am Brian and I work in the Payroll and Accounting Department in the office. I started with BRP in April of 2009 on a construction crew. Since then, I have done a variety of different positions within the company including: Scale Operator, Loader Operator, Shop Mechanic, and Rock Tester.

Donna Ellingson

Hi. I am Donna and I began working here in May of 2009. I do accounts receivable for all of Minnesota and numerous quarries in Iowa. I am also a co-programmer for our company website. I have one daughter, Cassy and live out in the country with our small zoo of animals.

Melissa Clement

Hi. I am Melissa and I just started working for BRP in November of 2010. I do Reception and Accounts Receivable. I have lived in Decorah my whole life and graduated from Decorah High School. I have my Associate in Applied Science Degree for Accounting from NICC in 2003. I got married in 2005 to my husband, Scott. We have two children, Isabella (age 2) and Landon (age 1).

Mac

Hey everyone- I'm Mac. I've been with BRP since 1989. I love my job, but it has it's challenges. I've bagged rock, washed rock, cooked rock, shock rock, tasted rock, been hit by rock, fell on rocks, and sold rock! Now after I retire, the only rocks I want to see are cold rocks of ice in my glass of liquor, looking out my window from my beach home in Latin America. Hey, it hasn't really been that stressful at work, I just wanted you to think that the company was losing their best man!! HA HA!!

Smokey Doyle

Hi. I am Smokey. I graduated from Loras College with a B.A. degree in Economics. I am married to Sue and we have two children, Connor and Brianna. I have over 30 years experience in Sales and Management. Since joining BRP, my main area of emphasis has been sales development in the new areas where we have recently expanded. I call on contractors, businesses, farmers, cities, counties, cooperatives, and individuals to learn their needs and offer assistance in filling those needs in the most economical manner and will also help in coordinating the completion of individual projects.

Bob Rodenberg

Hi. I am Bob and I started working for BRp in May of 2010. I started out at the Watson Quarry in Elkader, and also oversee Blum, Bernhard, Johnson, St. Olaf, and Tucker Quarries, along with the Bente Sand Pit. I take care of sales, estimating, and am the project manager in the Clayton County area. I live in Garnavillo, with my wife Vickie. We have 4 boys, Dustin, Adam, Anthony, and Rob (wife is Joan), and 2 grandchildren, Haley and Ella.

Hi, I am Willy and I am the Manager / Salesman for BRP Holm Bros. Division, located in the Southeast Minnesota counties of Goodhue and Wabasha. Upon graduating from the University of Monnesota in the mid-80's, I began working in the aggregate / highway heavy construction industry and have been with BRP since May 2010.
